Biography

Suzanne Banford is the Deputy Head of Division of Midwifery in the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Society at the University of Chester, UK. She supports the Head of Division of Midwifery, and actively contributes to the strategic and operational management of the academic division and contributes to the division management team, deputising for the Head of Division when necessary. Suzanne is an experienced senior lecturer in midwifery education and has over twenty years’ experience in the National Health Service in clinical practice, ward leadership, clinic management and education roles. Suzanne is a qualified Adult Nurse and a registered Midwife with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Teaching and Supervision

Suzanne is an experienced lecturer, having taught on undergraduate and postgraduate midwifery programmes over the past nine years. She teaches research, leadership and change management and evidence based-practice within the context of professional, accountable and autonomous midwifery practice. Suzanne is experienced in curriculum design and has been a key contributor to both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Suzanne is a member of the Learning, Teaching and Assessment Committee in the Faculty of Heath, Medicine and Society.

Research and Knowledge Exchange

Suzanne's research work is focused on teaching and learning in Education, with specific interest in enquiry based learning and self directed learning. Suzanne has undertaken both quantitative and qualitative research in these areas and is currently working on a publication on self-directed learning.
