Biography
I was Deputy Head in an infant scho9ol before making the transition to Higher Education. Having worked at Chester for a number of years I have held various roles with in the School of Education including Year Leader, Programme Leader, Admissions Tutor, Mentor Development Lead to name but a few. My subject interests include music within the primary school, assessment and feedback both in school and within Higher Education.
Teaching and Supervision
During my time at the University I have taught a wide range of modules on several different Programmes. Education Studies - I have taught Education Studies at Undergraduate level on the BA Programme. I have taught modules for Teaching Assistants and have been an assessor HLTA. Much of my teaching has been and is within the BA QTS and PGCE programmes. Professional Developent - I have always been invovled in Professional Development (Professional Studies) at all levels (levels 4,5 and 6) of Undergraduate Study and at Post Graduate level. Music in the curriculum for Primary and Early Years - again at Undergraduate (levels 4,5 and 6) and at Post graduate level for Primary and Early Years Associate Teachers. I also supervise M Level Dissertations. I work as part of the Mentor Development Team and lead sessions as part of the School of Education Mentor Training sessions.
Research and Knowledge Exchange
I am particularly interested in assessment in the Primary School. Within the area of assessment I have a keen interest in the use of feedback, observation, assessment strategies that can be used formatively and how they are used to develop and adapt teaching and learning. I also have an interest in mentoring and in particular mentoring in school settings.
