Teaching and Supervision
Suzy teaches on a range of modules including pedagogy, teaching and learning in PE, practical pedagogy of PE, research methods and school-based experience, all at levels 4, 5 and 6. As part of the BSc PE degree, Suzy organises placements in local primary schools, and secondary school PE departments for the applied teaching experience modules. Suzy supervises dissertation students specializing in Physical Education and Pedagogy and is currently co-ordinating the EBL Pedagogy Project looking at transitions in PE between Primary and Secondary School PE provision.
Research and Knowledge Exchange
Suzy’s research interests focus on pupil perceptions of physical education (PE) after the transition from primary to secondary school, looking to establish if there are any links between participation in PE and leisure sport. Current research for Suzy’s Master’s degree is looking to explore pupils’ views and experiences of both primary and secondary PE and will question the effect of transition on their participation in PE and leisure sport. Exploring such transitions will enable a focus upon the ways in which youngsters’ experiences of, and involvement in, PE and leisure-sport may be developed, through the content and delivery of PE in secondary settings.
