Senior Lecturer
Biography
I am an experienced academic currently working at University of Chester as a Senior Lecturer and Programme Lead for the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing Programme (SCPHN) where I teach and support student health visitors, school nurses and occupational health nurses throughout their specialist programme . I also teach on the SPQ Programme and Non- Medical Prescribing for V100 and V150 qualifications.
Teaching and Supervision
My main responsibilities include ensuring operational processes run smoothly (e.g. timetabling, assessment, examinations) and also programme accreditation processes. Ensure that programme design and delivery comply with the quality standards and regulations of the University. Contribute to the development of academic processes across the institution. Contribute to the development of learning and teaching strategies.Teach a range of materials linked to SCPHN practice including leadership, safeguarding and prescribing. Develop and apply innovative and appropriate teaching techniques and material which create interest, understanding and enthusiasm among students. Oversee the monitoring of student progress toward NMC registration and provide advice and guidance to practice assessors, supervisors and students as appropriate.
Research and Knowledge Exchange
I have a particular interest in qualitative research around public health and early intervention, supporting children and families within areas of high deprivation to have better long term health outcomes, health promotion and early intervention and the impact of government lock down on school readiness. I am looking forward to starting a Professional Doctorate in the near future linked to my area of interest.
