Biography
Vez is the Deputy Head of Division of Nursing and Healthcare, UCC campus, within the School of Nursing and Midwifery. Vez's role includes actively contributing to the strategic and operational management of the division, including development of the divisional academic portfolio; ensuring all programmes within the division comply with the external professional regulatory body requirements and contributing to the setting of quality assurance, education standards and curriculum development. Vez is also an external examiner for the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) programme and Master of Science- Public Health, at University of Northampton, where she is responsible for internal monitoring of summative assessments, which contributes to programme quality assurance procedures. Vez has recently undertaken the role of Quality Assurance Visitor for the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), where she is responsible for reviewing new or modified pre-registration nursing and SCPHN programmes within Approved Education Institutes (AEI) to ensure that they comply with the NMC standards, and confirming approval for validation within the AEI.
Teaching and Supervision
Vez is an experienced senior lecturer who currently teaches on the Non-Medical Prescribing programme, which is a multi-disciplinary post-graduate programme, for healthcare practitioners to become registered prescribers with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, General Pharmaceutical Council and the Health and Care Professions Council. Vez also teaches on the pre-registration nursing programme, across a range of subjects, including public health and anatomy and physiology.
Research and Knowledge Exchange
Vez is currently undertaking her Doctorate in Public Health, completing an ethnographic study into Health Visitors engagement with the father's of children under five years old in modern society. As a previous Health Visitor, Vez's research interests include public health, particularly surrounding men's mental health. Vez also has an interest in student experience and the lived experience of the transition into higher education for student nurses with a declared disability, and has worked on smaller projects relating to this.
