Payments

Get the facts on how to pay for your accommodation.

Accommodation Fees

There are two ways in which you can pay your accommodation charges:

  • Three termly instalments during the academic year (the first week of each term October/January/May)
  • One payment in full at the beginning of the academic year

When you accept your bedroom online you will be asked to make a £250.00 deposit payment to secure your room, at the same time you will be given the chance to pay for your room in full.  If you would prefer to pay in instalments,  once you have moved in an invoice for the year’s charges will be sent to you with a separate instalment plan.

Instalment Dates

2024/25 dates:

UK Students

At the beginning of your tenancy, your accommodation invoice will be sent through the University finance system and will include a direct link for you to make payment or direct any query using the Finance direct messaging service.

You will be emailed a copy of your invoice for the year and then separately a payment plan detailing your instalments for the year.  Please note the instalment amount is calculated by dividing your invoice into 3 equal instalments and is not the actual cost of each term.

You will be sent a reminder email when payment is due which, will have a link for you to click on, to make a payment. If at the same time you have a query or are unable to make payment you can click on the button for further assistance where you can use our online messaging service.

All charges should be paid through the finance system.

Payment plans will be issued in three instalments in line with how your Student Finance Maintenance Loan is received.

If for any reason you find you do not have the funds available or are experiencing problems with your Student Finance Loan Payment, please do not hesitate to contact the Finance Department before the payment is due.

If you wish to pay for the full year after you have accepted your room offer this can also be done by using Convera Global Pay

EU or International Students

At the beginning of your tenancy, you will be emailed a copy of your invoice for the year where a separate payment plan will detail your monthly instalments.

You will be sent a payment plan for 9 equal instalments or less if your contract is arranged later in the year. The instalments will be dated for the 28th of the month, and again you will be reminded each time when payment is due. This reminder will have a link to pay online. If for any reason you are unable to pay this way there will also be a query button on the reminder that we would ask you to use for further assistance where you can use our online messaging service.
If you wish to pay for the full year after you have accepted your room offer this can also be done by using
Convera Global Pay

If for any reason you find you do not have the funds available or are experiencing problems with your Student Finance Loan Payment or funding please do not hesitate to contact the Finance Department before the payment is due.

Return of Prepayment

Your deposit of £250 will be deducted from your final rent instalment. If there is any damage or missing items an invoice will be sent to you.

Students with Financial Difficulties

If you have financial difficulties we would ask that you contact the Finance Department in the first instance. However, Student Services or the Student Union can also be contacted for further advice and assistance.

It is important that once an arrangement has been made with the Finance Department you must keep to the agreement and any appointments that have been made. Failure to do so will result in further action being taken.

If a Student Fails to Pay

Any student who fails to pay their rent and so defaults on their contract will still be held liable to pay any outstanding fees and fines.

Failure to pay your fees on time could lead to you being evicted from the property and you will still be liable for the remainder of the costs including fines for the full academic year.
