Cath Edmondson
Head of Curriculum, Programme Leader - Professional Programmes
I have been working at the Centre for Foundation Studies since it commenced in 2017. My current role is Head of Curriculum and I am the programme lead for our Professional Programmes route.
After a gap in my education I returned and completed degrees in Psychology with Legal Studies, and another in Public Policy and Criminal Justice. I began my career working in a support capacity at police forces in both Australia and the UK. I later had the opportunity to move into lecturing and have taught in further and higher education institutions across a number of disciplines for over 15 years.
As a mature student I studied my Master of Education and a Master of Psychology. I have experienced first-hand the complexities of juggling work, personal responsibilities and the gym, while ensuring I completed my assessments.
My parents, and particularly my mother, have been my inspiration to continue to study. Growing up I watched her study, run a household with a family of five, and continue to work. She showed me the commitment needed, but also the value and importance it had for her and us as a family. This is part of the reason I enjoy working in lifelong learning as I am aware of the impact it can have on multiple generations.
The Professional Programmes route is a professional route which will provide you with a range of engaging modules suited to your progression in a supportive environment. It will give you the experience, knowledge and support to enable you to thrive and succeed over your four-year degree and in the workplace.
