1. Competence-based

We work with regional employers when designing our courses, to ensure that they are competency-based. This means that they will give you the technical and interpersonal skills, and occupational competencies, that match workforce priorities.

2. Social learning

By creating a vibrant and interactive learning environment, we place an emphasis on students working together with each other and with staff to explore your subject area, and develop your competencies through collaboration.

3. Inclusivity

We want to ensure our curriculum reflects the diversity of our student community. This means that our courses incorporate diverse perspectives, materials and teaching methods to ensure equitable access so that every student feels valued, respected and supported in your educational journey.

4. Assessment that is embedded, continuous and authentic

Rather than setting traditional exams and assessments at the end of the year, assessments will take place during each module and will be integrated into the learning process, reflecting real-world applications of knowledge that are relevant to the workplace.

5. Flexible and accessible

Many students need to balance paid employment, family, and other commitments with their studies, so our courses are designed to maximise the value of the time that you engage with the University. Your learning and assessment will be well-planned, consistent and predictable so that you can balance it with your other commitments.
