Welcome Week Specifics - PGCE Primary and Early Years
Welcome Week is an important time where we will introduce you to your programme. We will also have activities to enable you to meet other students on your course. There will be a department introduction w.c. 2nd September, where you can get to know each other and the campus. You will also get to meet your Personal Academic Tutor. Dates on when these sessions will take place will be populated on your timetable.
Welcome Week Specifics - BA (Hons) Primary Education/ BA (Hons) Early Years-Primary Education
On Monday 23rd September, we will begin our in-person academic induction at our Exton Park site in Chester, where most of your academic sessions will be. We have an exciting programme of activities for that week (referred to as ‘welcome week’), and this will include meeting your Personal Academic Tutor (PAT), as well as other members of the programme team and your fellow student.
Timings for the sessions in welcome are as below:
Monday 23rd September: 2.30pm – 4pm (meeting with Personal Academic Tutor also on this day)
Tuesday 24th September: 9.30am – 12 midday and 1pm – 3.30pm
Thursday 26th September: 9.30am – 1pm and 2pm – 4pm
An Introduction to Your PAT
Every student is assigned a Personal Academic Tutor (PAT). They will be your first point of contact for academic issues that arise during your degree and can support with areas such as applying for deferrals or managing your workload. We work alongside Student Services, who you should always contact for any personal issues you are experiencing, so we can help you navigate your degree and manage any unexpected surprises that life can throw up from time to time.
You'll meet with your PAT when you arrive at university and three times a year in scheduled meetings, but you can always contact your PAT by email if you need academic advice at other times. Your PAT will provide their contact information when you meet them in Welcome Week.
