Jo is a Senior Lecturer for Primary Education ITT and a member of the Mentor Development Team and Mentoring and Coaching in Education Research Group. She is a specialist in early childhood and early years education.

Jo has over 20 years experience of working in a range of roles in primary and early years, which includes primary school teaching, working as a local authority early years consultant and children’s centre manager. She is passionate about early intervention and prevention and giving children the best start to their education.

 

Jo has taught reception and key stage one at an outstanding primary school and has been an early years lead and teacher at an outstanding day nursery.

She has HE experience at Manchester Metropolitan University and Liverpool John Moores, supporting students with gaining their early years teacher status and teaching early childhood studies.

As part of her MA dissertation, Jo conducted a small scale research project on how to transform early years practice through professional development.
