Our Commitments

Our Approach Teaching & Learning

With an ambition to deliver a premium, personalised and purposeful student experience, there are three fundamental and guiding principles that underpin our approach teaching and learning.

Research and practice-informed teaching

With a rich research culture at the University, students benefit from studying on a course that is research and practice-informed, helping them to become highly valuable and knowledgeable specialists within their chosen area of study.

Social and immersive learning

With social and immersive learning collectively helping to foster a sense of community and offering our students real-world opportunities, this contributes to helping our students to become ‘World Ready’ graduates of the University.

Authentic assessment

With assessments often mirroring tasks our graduates might undertake in the workplace, this ensures our graduates are ready for the world of work.

Our Faculties

The University’s infrastructure brings expertise together so that we can deliver a diverse high-quality portfolio of courses that are highly relevant to the modern world we live in.

Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences

Faculty of Health, Medicine and Society

The Faculty of Health, Medicine and Society’s purpose is intrinsically linked with developing the future NHS, Local Authority and health and wellbeing workforce.

Faculty of Science, Business and Enterprise

The Faculty of Science, Business and Enterprise positions students at the intersection of the sustainable energy and digital transformation revolutions.

Our Approach Research & Knowledge Exchange

With over half of our research rated as either world-leading or internationally excellent (Research Excellence Framework, 2021), we are proud to support the development of three Research Knowledge Exchange Institutes (RKEIs).

Each institute shares the same overarching aim of bringing together researchers, staff and students to foster interdisciplinary working. By strengthening existing relationships and building new collaborations, the RKEIs are well-placed to work closely with external partners and communities, meaning the University is actively able to make a positive difference to society.
