Wrapping Up the Internship Journey: Todd’s Placement Year and Top Experiences at the University of Chester
Todd Turner is back for his final year of studies with Chester Business School after an incredible industry placement year with Enterprise Mobility. As he returns for his fourth year, Todd reflects on his internship success, his role as a Campus Brand Manager, and his time at the University of Chester!
What a Placement Year! 🎉
Looking back, the placement year was nothing short of amazing. Working at Enterprise gave me hands-on experience in the mobility services sector, and I had the chance to develop a variety of skills, from business strategy to customer service. The highlight? Leading a team and driving significant improvements within the company. I even managed to hit some big targets, and those wins felt fantastic!
This experience profoundly changed my outlook on my career. The practical skills I gained ignited a passion for the mobility sector, inspiring me to consider a future where I could contribute to innovations in transportation.
From River to Snow: Todd’s Double Life in UOC Sports
One of the best parts of my time at Chester has been getting involved in the sports clubs, particularly Rowing and Snowsports. Whether it’s planning an epic ski trip or hitting the water for early morning practice, these clubs have given me unforgettable memories and lifelong friends. It’s not all about the competition; the sense of community and shared experiences made it a core part of my university life.
Being a Brand Manager
One of the standout roles I’ve taken on during my time at Chester was becoming a Campus Brand Manager for Enterprise during my placement year. This role involved representing a company on your university campus to promote its brand, opportunities, and services. It’s a dynamic role that combines marketing, event management, and networking with various stakeholders across the University.
Representing Enterprise on campus was a huge responsibility, but it also gave me valuable marketing and recruitment skills. Not only did I get to help students land internships, but I also gained experience in public speaking, event planning, and promoting the brand across different channels.
The Perfect Setting for Studies
The teaching staff are super supportive, and the campus at Queen's Park is the perfect setting for a business school—right by the river and filled with inspiration. Whether it's brainstorming in group projects or diving deep into business strategy, I’ve really enjoyed the course's balance of practical insight and academic challenge.
Top Tips for Getting Involved
- Say Yes: The more you get involved, the more you learn. Whether it's a sports club, society, or work placement, take the plunge.
- Network: Don’t be afraid to reach out to people. Whether it’s lecturers, guest speakers, or peers, your network can help shape your future.
- Balance: Make sure to balance your studies with activities. University is about more than just the coursework—it's also about personal growth and making memories.
Chester has been the perfect place to balance my academic, social, and professional life, and I can’t wait to see what this final year has in store!
