Stepping into My Master's Journey at the University of Chester
Ravina graduated from the University of Chester with an MSc in Health Services Management. Here, she discusses her journey at Chester and gives advice for other prospective students.
My name is Ravina Hirsingh Rajpurohit. I come from India, and I am a University of Chester MSc Health Services Management graduate.
Why Did You Choose to Study in the UK / at the University of Chester?
After completing my Bachelor's degree in pharmacy, I chose to take a bold step straight into my Master's journey in the UK—something I had dreamt about for years.
For me, studying abroad wasn't just about education; it was about global exposure, meeting people from every corner of the world, and building the kind of social capital that shapes confident, empowered leaders.
When I discovered the perfect blend of healthcare, leadership and management within my programme at University of Chester, I knew I had found the right place. I had researched my course thoroughly before joining, and I genuinely loved each module, with leadership becoming my favourite—partly because it aligns so deeply with my strengths and who I am as a person.
What Did You Like Most About the University of Chester?
The university very quickly became my second home. What I appreciated most was the openness—there was no hierarchy, no barriers. Whether it was a professor or someone in a senior leadership role, support, mentoring, and guidance were always just a conversation away.
Did You Get Involved with Any Extracurricular Activities Outside of Your Course?
I immersed myself in opportunities across campus: winning awards such as the Faculty World Readiness Award, the Chester Difference Award, the Volunteering Award, and even the Venture Pitch Competition.
I contested in the student elections, securing second place among 11 strong candidates—an experience that sharpened my confidence and allowed me to connect with hundreds of students. I still remember speaking to a lecture theatre of 250 students on a Monday morning, sharing ideas about how we could make our university even better; moments like that transformed me.
Beyond academics, I completed my carbon literacy training and went on to become a Carbon Literacy Facilitator. I was invited as a guest speaker to share my journey even before finishing my degree—an honour that still humbles me.
And perhaps my proudest moment of all was delivering the convocation speech on my Graduation Day, with my parents watching me shine.
If You Could Give One Piece of Advice to an International Student Who is Considering Applying for the University of Chester, What Would it Be?
If there's one piece of advice I could give any international student thinking of starting this journey, it would be this: stay focused, trust the process, and believe that you can become the greatest version of yourself. Your journey abroad will change you—beautifully, powerfully, and forever.
