Tune in to hear University psychology team discuss music in latest hit podcast episode

With summer heralding the arrival of a plethora of music festivals, and with Glastonbury on the horizon, the new episode – titled The Psychology Of...Music – sees senior lecturer Dr Clea Wright hosting the discussion with musicians and fellow lecturers Dr Margaret Cousins and Dr Kevin Rodgers. 

Within the 30-minute podcast, the team discusses how rhythms inspire teamwork and momentum, how music festivals can inspire social bonding, and how music tempo can inspire people’s dining habits. 

Other topics discussed include how listening to music generates memory connections and increasingly numerous and niche social communities, and how political viewpoints inspire musical tastes. 

Clea said: “We’re continuing to discuss topics of psychological interest following the great response we had to The Psychology Of...The Traitors series, and to celebrate Glastonbury coming up at the end of the month, we thought it would be a good idea to examine the effect music has in our lives. 

“This has been one of our best episodes yet and it was a pleasure to hear from Margaret and Kevin, both of whom have plenty of experience as musicians and in psychology.”
