University offers science, business, psychology and dance taster days
School and college students are being invited to a range of informative taster days at the University of Chester, featuring the worlds of science, business, psychology and dance.

Those in Years 11, 12 and 13 are invited to explore fascinating subjects in the Faculty of Science, Business and Enterprise from Wednesday, April 30 to Friday, May 2.
Post-16 students are also being invited to a Dance Day at Creative Campus Kingsway on Wednesday, May 14 and to two Psychology Taster Days on Wednesday, June 18 and Thursday, June 26.
Here is what students can expect on those days:
- April 30 – Students can visit the School of Computer and Engineering Sciences for a taste of Computer/Data Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Games Design and Mathematics at the Exton Park Campus. Sessions include The Mathematics of Games, AI Vision: Teaching a Computer to See!, Games Development and Design and The SQL Murder Mystery.
- May 1 – Interactive lab sessions at the School of Natural Sciences, Exton Park, include Owl Pellet Dissection, Crab Physiology Practical, Chemistry Spectroscopy, plus Engineering, Design and Manufacturing: 3D Printing and Drones.
- May 2 – Chester Business School, Queen’s Park, will give students an engaging taster of its Business, Marketing, Finance, Events and Tourism degrees. From performance leadership to the finances needed to set up a business, tasters will help students decide what aspects of business they want to study at university and some of the exciting career opportunities available.
- May 14 – The day of dance will see students will participate in a contemporary dance workshop where they will learn phrase-based movements and engage in creative choreographic exploration. They will also receive a campus tour and information about the dance programme.
- June 18 and 26 – This interactive event introduces students to the study of Psychology at university. There will be a series of taster lectures, demonstrations of research equipment, including attendees to have a go, and talking about life as an undergraduate in Psychology at Chester.
All tasters are designed to help students get hands-on experience of University-level study and explore the range of subjects they can choose, as well as information on applying for and studying at university.
Rachel Howle, Outreach Co-Ordinator at the University of Chester, said: “A taster day is an excellent opportunity to deepen subject knowledge whilst getting some first-hand experience of what it’s like to study at university. We’ll have a range of engaging, interactive sessions with experts from across our subject teams.”
The events run from 10am-2pm. Students are advised to bring packed lunches or purchase refreshments on site (all campuses are cashless). Students can book to come on their own, or teachers can book school groups on.
