University supports two new exhibitions in the Chester city centre
Two new art exhibitions supported by the University of Chester have opened in Chester city centre.
The AA2A Artists (Artists Access to Art Colleges) exhibition presents a group of artists who will be working in collaboration with the Division of Art, Design and Innovation at the University of Chester, during 2024 and 2025. It includes works by Tony Hayes, Christine Gallagher, Bryan Lewis, Carolyn Murphy, Clare Owens and Emma Petruzzelli.
The exhibition is open Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, 10am – 4pm, 7 December to 21 December 2024.
AA2A is an Arts Council England (ACE) Investment Principle Support Organisation (IPSO) that has been facilitating artists residencies since 1999. It fosters collaboration between further and higher education institutions and artists while supporting students as they transition from study to employment in the arts. Universities and colleges host up to six artists for one academic year, allowing artists the opportunity to use facilities and resources they may otherwise not be able to access. This mutually beneficial relationship enriches the academic environment, provides valuable experiences for students, and helps artists to develop their creative practice.
A fine art exhibition entitled Contemporary Sculpture: Of Paint and Process is also taking place featuring new sculptural works by Amanda George-Higgins, a recent graduate of the Fine Art programme at the University of Chester.
Dr Jeremy Turner, Deputy Head of Art and Design at the University of Chester, said: “We’re excited to support the work of these artists and promote their work to a wider audience. I hope the exhibitions capture the eye of visitors to the city centre.”
The exhibition is open Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, 1am – 4pm, 7 December 2024 – 4 January 2025 (closed 25 December and 1 January)
Both exhibitions will be held at CASC in the Castlefield Gallery New Art Spaces: Chester, Grosvenor Shopping Centre CH1 1EA and are free to attend. For more information visit https://www.castlefieldgallery.co.uk/two-exciting-new-exhibitions-are-coming-to-castlefield-gallery-new-art-spaces-chester/
