What to Look Forward to at the University of Chester
Starting university is an exciting time, so here’s a little preview of the many things you have to look forward to when joining the University of Chester.
Your New Home from Home
No matter where you’ll be studying, across all our sites we have great locations for you to explore. It won’t be long until you find your new favourite space to relax with a coffee or grab lunch with friends. Our sites all offer a range of diverse and affordable ways to have fun, meaning there’s something for everyone! Chester is a historical city that has the perfect blend of classic and contemporary. As you get to know the city centre you’ll find many of your familiar favourites alongside an array of unique bars and restaurants. Our Warrington site is right in the heart of the town centre in the newly developed Time Square – putting you at the centre of the best the town has to offer.
Join a Thriving Community
At the University of Chester, you have the freedom to be yourself while making friends and meeting people from all walks of life and corners of the world. You can be part of an inclusive community where you’ll thrive, whether it’s our work alongside our Student Race Advocates or our involvement in Chester Pride, there are plenty of opportunities for you to get involved and find your people.
Explore Your Subject
Whether you’re interested in Nursing, Bioscience, Psychology, Performing Arts, Business or one of the many other courses we offer, you can increase your knowledge while also gaining valuable experience in a subject you care about. At Chester, you get to learn alongside your peers with a shared passion, while being taught by research-active staff. You’ll get a quality learning experience with facilities tailored to your course, and there is an array of opportunities to explore what you’d like to do after your degree. You can gain real experience in the world of work with integrated employability skills and first-hand experience and the chance to make vital connections through our Work Based Learning module.
Follow Your Passion or Try Something New
Are you a Disney obsessive? Maybe you’re into amateur dramatics or you just love walking dogs? No matter what interests you have we have many societies you can join to meet new people who share your passion. But societies are also a great chance to try something new. Perhaps you want to give photography a go? Or maybe you just want to debate who the best Avenger is at the Marvel Society? Either way, you’re bound to find a society that’s right for you, and if you’re looking for something more active our Athletics Union offers lots of sports teams you can join. Whether you’re looking to compete or just have a kick about with mates, there’s plenty to get involved with, ranging from basketball and boxing, to tennis and trampolining.
Meet Your Personal Academic Tutor
When it comes to your future aspirations, we know your ambition will take you to great places, and we’ll get you even further. From day one to the day you graduate you will be supported by your Personal Academic Tutor (PAT). Your PAT will be on-hand throughout your university journey offering advice and guidance on your course. You’ll have regularly scheduled meeting time with your PAT and many students often meet with their PATs throughout the year beyond the required scheduled sessions as well. Your PAT will be happy to answer any questions you have and point you in the direction of any further support if required. All our staff are friendly and approachable so there's always someone on-hand to help you.
