IN PIECES
Sarah Puyatier
Fragments
s c a t t e r e d
all over the continent,
not limited or defined by lines we call borders.
Every place we step foot on,
every heart we touch
and every street those hearts walk
is where we are simultaneously
s c a t t e r e d
across countries and seas
in constant movement increasing gradually.
If you look from far enough away,
you’ll recognize the fragments we’ll have left
mapping a mosaic of the heart,
pieced together since the start
to form life’s legacy in the end.
I am everyone I meet and everyone I meet is me,
at least partly.
So we walk our paths while we drive and fly,
we write and sing and laugh and cry,
we work, we create, we nurture and heal.
The more my pieces
s c a t t e r
the more I feel
my heart to be less abstract
and the moving picture to be real.
