YOUR JOURNEY

Ashli Giles

Hello, you. Bet you never thought we would make it this far, huh? Well, let’s summarise. I know how much you to do that.
The cobbles were wet the first time you walked on them. Still, you found it remarkable how beautiful it looked as your reflection shimmered across each surface. The weather hasn’t changed much since then. Instead, now you feel as though your name is engraved on that stony texture, and the rain makes it shine. Like the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but nobody knows who you are. But you deserve it; you grew up on those streets.
All those coffee shops you list in your notes, saying you would go back there time and time again. You were determined to be like one of those models you saved on Pinterest, sipping your coffee in one hand, writing in a notebook with the other. Sure, you weren’t a model in your oversized hoodies and form-fitting leggings, but you did it regardless. Time and time again.
But, yes, there were those nights you spent shut in your room. That voice in your head sounding like a lost child, screaming that you were going to plummet. Thinking that maybe it would be better to just shut the laptop, lock the door, and walk away. Because it’s safer not to try.
But you tried. Hell, you succeeded. You did it. We did it.
Thank you. Let’s keep going and see what happens next, yeah? You and I. Okay?
       Okay.
       I love you.
Yours sincerely, and forever, until the day we die. Me.
