Conwy Castle and marina

Our language evening classes are a great way to expand and develop your language skills if you have a passion for learning another language, are looking to learn or improve a language for business reasons, or simply want help with your holiday conversations! We are currently running courses in French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese, Spanish, and Welsh.

Our tutors use fun and interactive teaching methods within their classes, which are suitable and tailored to the level you have enrolled in. We are proud to create an air of camaraderie and friendship in our groups, and we will motivate you to retain an ongoing interest in learning, encouraging all our students to support one another as they learn. Some classes will follow a particular course book, which the tutor will highlight in your first class.

If you are a member of the public (not a University of Chester student), the cost of Block 2 is £199.50. These classes run for a total of 10 weeks, starting the week of January 12th until the week of March 16th 2026.

Please note that if you sign up, you’ll be joining the course where other students in the class, who enrolled for the full course in October, are already up to. If you would like to enrol as a beginner, a sufficient level of knowledge is required to be able to join halfway through the course.

If you are a University of Chester student, all our evening classes are free (with a deposit). The language evening courses require a deposit of £100, but this will be refunded to you after course completion (attending at least 80% of the sessions). University of Chester Staff are also entitled to a discount.

Enrolment for Block 2 will be paused over the Christmas period, from 4pm on 23rd December until 9am on 5th January.

Please note:

  • All courses run subject to minimum numbers.
  • This is not a credit-bearing course.
  • Minimum Age: The minimum age is 18.
  • Refunds will not be granted after the courses have started.
  • All courses are taught in person, on our Exton Park campus.

Enrolment for Block 2 is now open!

ENROLMENT FOR THE BLOCK IS NOW OPEN

Members of the public:

To enrol on the course, you must pay through our online store. Once that is done, then you don’t need to do anything else!

You cannot enrol on the course without paying, so make sure that you have paid and not just registered your interest.

The course is delivered in person at our Exton Park campus, in the evenings, 6.30-8.30pm. The day your course will be delivered on will depend on the language and level you choose to study.

Information on how to get to Exton Park can be found here.

Parking on campus is limited, and we encourage either parking in town or for you to access public transport as a means of getting to the University.

Once you have paid, you should receive a receipt of payment. This will mean that you are now enrolled onto the course. You will then receive your timetable information, along with your room number, and tutor from ahsstudentrecruitment@chester.ac.uk the week before you start.

University of Chester Students will receive a full refund of their £100 deposit if they have over 80% attendance after the courses are over.

All other Languages for All students (members of the public, staff, and alumni) will not receive a refund once classes start unless the course does not run due to low interest.

Certificates are available at the end of the successful completion of the course and by request to ahsstudentrecruitment@chester.ac.uk only. Please note that this is not a credit bearing course.
