Admissions FAQs

All applications for full-time degree courses must be made through UCAS, and the deadline to ensure that your form is given full consideration is 31st January.

Applications received after the 31st January deadline may be considered if we still have places available (following consideration of all ‘on time’ applications). Please check with the admissions team before you submit an application to UCAS.

The UCAS code for the University of Chester is C55.

If you are unsure about which subject you would like to study there is no harm in applying for more than one course at the University. However, if you are interested in studying one of our professional courses (e.g. Teaching or Nursing), it is best to focus your application on that.

Typically, entry requirements for our combined honours degrees range from 96-112 points and 104-120 points for our single honours degrees.  Please refer to the course pages on our website for individual course entry requirements.

Yes, we consider and accept a mixed combination of qualifications. For example, if you are studying 2 A levels and a BTEC Extended Certificate and applying for a LLB Law degree, then our typical offer would be to achieve grades BC in your A Levels and a Distinction in your BTEC Extended Certificate.

You will need to accept your offer through UCAS Hub.

If you were made an Unconditional Offer you must send the original certificates of your qualifications (e.g. A Levels, BTEC, Access Diploma etc.) to the admissions office. We will return all original certificates by recorded delivery.

If you have accepted a conditional offer on the basis of your GCE A Levels, BTEC National Diploma or Certificate, CACHE Diploma, OCR National Certificate or Diploma, International Baccalaureate, Access to HE Diploma, Scottish Higher or Irish Higher qualifications, then your examination results will be sent directly to us by UCAS. There will be no need for you to supply us with certificates.

If you are studying on Open College Units, Open University Credits, Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design, a Foundation course, or any other method of study where results are not forwarded to universities by UCAS, you will have to provide us with certified results as soon as you receive them.

If you do not meet all of the conditions set out in your offer, we may still be able to confirm your place with us, but this will depend on how many places we have available, the results you have achieved and any special circumstances.

No, we consider a wide range of Level 3 qualifications on an equal basis.

If we have places available on the course you wish to change to, and you meet the entry requirements, we will consider a request to change the course you are applying for.  We may ask you to supply a new personal statement to reflect the new course you wish to be considered for.

All universities have until early May to make decisions on all applications received at UCAS before the 31st January deadline.

Every year, the University of Chester receives a high number of applications.  We understand that it can be stressful waiting to hear the outcome of your application so every effort is made to process applications as quickly as possible. We read each application very carefully to ensure we are making the right offers to the right applicants for the right courses. Therefore, should you decide to study at Chester, you can be assured that we think Chester is the right place for you.

Once we have made a decision, this will be communicated to UCAS; therefore please do check UCAS Hub on a regular basis. Please also check your email account regularly in case we need to contact you about your application.

If you have applied for a course that requires an interview or audition, please be aware that Admissions Tutors have to review all applications before shortlisting. We aim to provide candidates with at least two weeks’ notice of an interview/audition and interviews take place up until the end of April.
