English courses are based in two beautiful Victorian buildings – The Old Vicarage and Rockmount. The Institute of Gender Studies is based in the modern Binks Building. Students benefit from excellent teaching facilities alongside social hubs and accommodation just a short walk from the centre of Chester.

All our academic staff are engaged in research and publishing: they have produced scholarly books, novels and poetry collections, journal articles, book chapters and online publications. Some staff are also editors of journals and magazines, and they are regularly consulted by publishers as expert reviewers.
