Childhood, Education and Professional Development (CEPD)
At CEPD, we challenge, innovate, and inspire, driving change in education through excellence in teaching and research.
Welcome to the inspiring world of Childhood, Education, and Professional Development (CEPD). Within our academic department you will find senior lecturers, associate professors, partners, administrative staff, professors and, of course, students, who all share one driving ethos: to make a difference. Quite simply, this is at the heart of everything we do. We rethink and challenge the educational landscape, we innovate and champion change both inside and outside of the classroom, and we deliver academic and research excellence.
If you are interested in pursuing a career where you can truly make a positive difference to the lives of children and their families - as well as to local communities and wider society - our courses will be perfect for you. Our CEPD team offer an impressive portfolio of courses to meet your aspirations, from a BA in Early Childhood and Primary Education at undergraduate level, to a suite of part time, full time, and short courses at postgraduate level, perfect for continuing professional development (CPD).
Our Undergraduate Courses
"Our undergraduate courses have always been both challenging and rewarding, combining theory, research, and professional education. We know what it takes for students to be successful, and we provide outstanding support while challenging you to exceed your expectations of yourself, understand your strengths, and have the knowledge and confidence to be the best you can be."
— Sarah Shaw, Head of Childhood, Education and Professional Development
On our undergraduate courses, you will be part of an inclusive and dynamic environment that will inspire and challenge you to have a positive impact on local, national, and international education. From day one, you will become part of our collaborative multi-professional department. You will begin to enhance your professional learning, engage with authentic research and knowledge exchange, help create tangible outcomes for education and society, and learn about the philosophical, sociological, and political issues that impact and change the landscape and theory of education and inclusive practice. We are extremely proud of our BA Early Childhood and Primary Education degree, and we reimagine our curriculum annually to ensure that we’re always reflecting current thinking and drawing on contemporary trends across the full educational landscape.
