The directors of the International Flash Fiction Association welcome proposals for MPhil/PhD work (creative and/or critical) on flash fiction. An MPhil/PhD is a great way to establish yourself as an expert in the field and to progress towards a career in academia.

Drs Peter Blair and Ashley Chantler two of the world’s leading experts in the short-short story. They teach flash fiction on several BA and MA modules, have had their own flashes published, given readings, judged competitions, been interviewed, written articles and essays on the form, and have given their advice to numerous aspiring writers. They are the founders and editors of Flash: The International Short-Short Story Magazine and Flash: The International Short-Short Story Press, and the founders and organizers of the National Flash Fiction Youth Competition (UK).

As a student at the University, you will have access to Seaborne Library’s Flash Fiction Special Collection, the world’s largest archive of flash-related anthologies, collections, and secondary sources as well as to the archive of Flash: The International Short-Short Story Magazine.
