Your Enrolment

Enrolment is the process by which you officially become a student at the University of Chester.  It confirms your place on your course, ensures we have accurate personal and academic details, and is essential for accessing university services and receiving funding (if applicable).  Enrolment is different from admissions. While admissions involves applying and accepting a place, enrolment is what makes your student status official - and must be completed at the start of your course and again at the beginning of each academic year.

Enrolment takes place in two stages:

  1. Online Enrolment (before you arrive)
  2. In-Person Enrolment / ID Card Collection (after you arrive)

Please note: If you are an international student, you will have some additional steps to complete as part of your enrolment.  Information will be included in your welcome email.  Guidance can also be found here.

Stage 1 – Online Enrolment (Complete before you arrive)

Once your place is confirmed, you’ll receive a welcome email sent to the email address you used on your application form.  This usually arrives with a few weeks of your offer being confirmed, and will include:

  • Your Student ID number
  • A unique password
  • A link to begin the online enrolment process
  • Additional information about your Induction and next steps

Please don’t worry if another student receives their email before you.  All new students will receive their welcome email as part of the induction process, once their enrolment is ready to begin. To help ensure everything runs smoothly, we ask that you don’t share your email with others.

To complete Online Enrolment:

  • Log in to E-Vision using your Student ID number and password
  • Confirm your personal details and course information
  • Provide any required mandatory information
  • Read and agree to the University’s Enrolment Conditions and Privacy Notice

Completing Online Enrolment is mandatory. Failure to do so may impact your student status and delay the release of loans or grants from organisations such as the Student Loans Company.

Stage 2 – In-Person Enrolment / ID Card Collection (Complete after you arrive)

Once you’ve completed Online Enrolment and arriving, you’ll need to collect your Student ID card from a designated location on site.

  • Undergraduate students (UG): In-person enrolment is mandatory and takes place when you collect your Student ID card.  This step confirms your attendance and enables us to notify relevant funding bodies, such as the Student Loans Company.  Your funding is typically released within 3-5 working days after this step.
  • Postgraduate Taught (PGT) and Postgraduate Research (PGR) students: You are not required to complete in-person enrolment in the same way as undergraduates.  However, you must still collect your student ID card from a designated collection point.
  • International Students: In-person enrolment is mandatory for international students, and there are a few extra steps you'll need to complete.  Full instructions will be included in your welcome email, and additional guidance is available here.  At in-person enrolment, you'll need to present your passport and eVisa share code.  You'll also receive your Student ID card during this process.  The Study Visa Team will contact all new international students with specific details about where and when to attend in-person enrolment.

Other essential tasks to complete before you arrive:

  • Upload your ID photo for your University ID card

  • Access your university email account and IT systems
  • Complete the mandatory online training on harassment and sexual misconduct

Please refer to your welcome email for further information.
