Meenu's Chester Made Story: Personalised support at Chester made a real difference to my professional role
Find out what makes Meenu Chester Made
As a postgraduate student on the MSc Management course at the University of Chester, what stands out to me most is the confidence I gained to think critically and engage with complex organisational challenges. Returning to study at Master's level was both exciting and demanding as an international student, but Chester created an environment where questioning, reflection and practical application were actively encouraged. This approach has had a lasting impact on how I approach my work today.
One of the strengths of the MSc Management course was the breadth of the curriculum. Modules such as Understanding and Managing People deepened my understanding of workplace dynamics, leadership and motivation, while also offering valuable insight from an international and inclusive perspective. Studying alongside a diverse cohort enriched classroom discussions and helped me appreciate different approaches to management, communication and professional practice. A defining part of my student experience was the support I received through the personal tutor system.
A proud graduation moment with my personal tutor, Luisa, whose guidance and support played a key role in my MSc Management journey at the University of Chester. Luisa played a crucial role in my academic journey. She provided clear guidance on structuring assignments, managing expectations, and balancing multiple deadlines support that was especially important during more intensive periods of study. Beyond academics, Luisa offered reassurance and encouraged me to reflect on my progress and strengths, helping me build confidence and resilience. That personalised support made a real difference and is something I now value deeply in my professional role. The culmination of my journey came on graduation day, which remains one of my proudest moments. Walking across the stage marked not only the completion of my MSc Management, but the result of months of hard work, personal growth and determination. The ceremony itself was exceptionally well organised and filled with a strong sense of celebration and achievement, shared with fellow graduates, academic staff and loved ones. It was a moment to reflect on the challenges overcome and the support received throughout my time at Chester.

Graduation at the University of Chester marked a proud milestone, celebrating the successful completion of my MSc Management and the journey of growth, resilience and achievement that led to this moment. Since graduating from the University of Chester with an MSc in Management, I have progressed into my current role as a Placement Officer, a position that feels closely aligned with both my academic journey and personal values. I am most proud of finding a career where I can directly support students in building confidence, developing employability skills, and making successful transitions from university into the workplace.
What I love most about my work now is the opportunity to make a tangible difference to students, academics and PEFs. Every student's journey is unique, and being able to guide, encourage and support them, particularly during moments of uncertainty, has been incredibly rewarding. Drawing on the skills I developed during my MSc, such as strategic thinking, problem-solving and understanding people and workplace dynamics, allows me to provide more meaningful and tailored support.
My advice to current and future students would be to make full use of the support available to you. Engage with your lecturers, personal tutors and careers teams, ask questions, and don't be afraid to seek guidance. University is not just about achieving a qualification, it is about growth, self‑discovery and building the foundations for your future. Being a Chester graduate means being part of a community that values people, supports potential, and encourages ambition.
My time at Chester shaped not only my career path but also my confidence and sense of purpose. I am proud of what I achieved during my studies and grateful for the role the University of Chester has played in helping me get to where I am today.
