I make life better for business owners, leaders and their teams by listening, asking, challenging, supporting and especially truth-telling. That’s what makes the big difference to the people and organisations I work with.
I do it because someone else did precisely that for me whilst I was running my business. In doing so, my friend Alan Mullett transformed every aspect of my business and my personal life.
With what he taught me, I transformed my stumbling lifestyle business into a growing, respected, award-winning agency with global brands on the client list, a high-achieving, happy team - and one fulfilled owner who finally found his purpose!
Such was the impact that I wanted to make that same difference for other businesses and that’s why I left the agency after nearly thirty years and why I do what I do today.
To contribute to the transformation of others – and even see it happening in front of you – is incredibly satisfying and immensely humbling. And I absolutely love it.
I use the same approach in supporting the Venture entrepreneurs that I am lucky enough to come into contact with. I’ve been involved in the programme for ten years as a speaker, judge and mentor. It’s constantly inspiring and a real privilege.

Hems provided three months of one to one mentoring for two businesses.
Starting and growing a business can feel overwhelming, with constant decisions, competing priorities and ongoing challenges. This mentoring offered founders a dedicated space to step back and think clearly.
Through these sessions, participants were able to:
- Talk through ideas, challenges and next steps
- Gain practical advice from someone with real business experience
- Work through decisions and explore solutions
- Build confidence as a business owner
- Be supported and challenged in a constructive way
